The Great Rivalries

Twelve matchups that show up on the schedule every year and mean something every time: the programs that play each other constantly and are both good enough to make it sting.

Every program has teams it plays a lot. A rivalry is different: it's a team you play a lot and can't take for granted. I went looking for the matchups that clear both bars (frequent meetings, and two programs consistently among the state's best) and limited the list to one rivalry per school, so no team shows up twice.

What came out is a tour of Tennessee soccer geography: prep-school grudge matches in Chattanooga and Memphis, suburban derbies outside Nashville, and a couple of small-town series where neither side has been able to pull away in fifteen years. Flip the toggle to see how each plays out on the boys' and girls' sides.
